“We’re gonna need a bigger plane”: Fly Corporate upgrades to a 34-seater to meet Moree-Narrabri-Brisbane demand
LESS than four months ago ACT-based commercial airline Fly Corporate flew into Moree and Narrabri offering regular return flights to Brisbane using a 19-seater plane.
Now, as the New Year rapidly approaches, the company has upgraded the service to a 34-passenger seat aircraft to meet demand.
Fly Corporate’s sales manager Geoff Woodham said that the larger Saab 340 began operations today (December 21) due to demand.
“Fly Corporate closely monitors the Narrabri-Moree-Brisbane route and we offer the larger aircraft when the passenger numbers support it,” Mr Woodham said.
“We are pleased the service is being supported by the Moree Plains’ community and look forward to future growth of the route.
“We are delighted with the ongoing support and sincerely thank the Moree community as well as the local businesses that have stepped in and supported us from day one,” he said.
“The creation of this route is due to the requirements of Moree and Narrabri and Fly Corporate will continue to provide exceptional service to all our customers.”
Moree Plains Shire Council general manager Lester Rodgers is excited that the service continues to grow, and be supported by the community.
“So many people tell me how great the 75-minute flight to Brisbane is compared to a six-hour car trip,” Mr Rodgers said.
“The flights have helped attract medical specialists from the Brisbane area, enhanced tourism opportunities and supported families with children at school or university in Queensland.”
Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall congratulated Fly Corporate for its success and commitment to the black-soil plains of north-western NSW.
“This is wonderful news for Moree and the region,” Mr Marshall said.
“It’s a vote of confidence in the future of our communities and I hope people continue to support Fly Corporate.
“I send my congratulations to the company on this milestone. It reflects their commitment to our region and their well-pitched timetable and pricing,” he said.
Mr Woodham thanked the many “frequent flyers” from the north and north-west that are now using Fly Corporate’s regular service.
“The people of Moree and Narrabri have been tremendous in their support and patronage and on behalf of Fly Corporate I wish the entire community a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year,” he said.
