Snow and Tracie’s iconic Greenbah Store wins the July Essential Business Appreciation Award
MOREE’S iconic Greenbah Store is the winner of Moree Thumbs Up! Thumbs Down! Essential Business Appreciation Award for July, 2020.
The Greenbah Store, owned by Snow and Tracie Miller, is one of a few convenience stores still operating in Moree, and the success of the business is due partly to the warm and friendly service offered by hard-working staff members, who put in long hours.
The store, located on Greenbah Road, has a range of groceries, small goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, hot pies, sausage rolls, hotdogs and freshly made salad rolls and sandwiches. Snow and Tracie purchased the business in 2006 from Jeff and Sue Greenaway, who owned and operated the popular store for 28 years.
“We love Moree and our little shop and the customer support for our business is wonderful,” Traci said.
“We have family in Moree, along with some great friends. My family were born and bred in Moree, so we know a lot of locals, young and old.”
The Greenbah Store ‘family’ has grown in size and popularity since Snow and Tracie put their names over the door – and so has their customer-base.
“We have enjoyed seeing little babies born, watched them grow from their first day of school, progress onto high school and then undertaking things like getting their driver’s licence,” Tracie smiled.
“Since owning the store, we have seen many changes, floods, drought and now COVID-19. Sadly, many workers lost their jobs with the drought and people were struggling. Keeping the business going has been exhausting with so many ups and downs,” she said.
“With the COVID-19 pandemic we have had to make many changes and adjustments, the same as other local businesses have had to.
“It’s been hard to get stock. Some suppliers delivering into town are now only weekly instead of twice-weekly, some even only monthly.
“Many of our elderly customers who are trying to stay safe are mostly doing phone orders and picking up their orders in the carpark.
“The panic buying has been very frustrating. We would like to say a huge ‘thank-you’ to our loyal customers for continually supporting us, without them we wouldn’t be here,” Tracie said.
Greenbah Store was nominated for the award by Judy Foster who said the business has “wonderful customer service, and an excellent variety of groceries and takeaways. And you are met with a wonderful greeting when you walk through the door – great country hospitality.”
Tracie and Snow thanked Judy for the nomination and continued support through unprecedented times.
“Judy is a great loyal customer and has become a great friend – she lights up our store when she comes through the shops doors,” Tracie laughed.
“We are very proud and feel appreciated by our customers and to everyone who voted for us, thank You for supporting small local businesses. It’s lovely to see that our hard work has been noticed.”
Nominations will soon be open for the August Moree Thumbs Up! Thumbs Down! Essential Business Appreciation Award.
