Deluxe Café Moree – the mobile version – was established in 2008 and had its first day of trade on Anzac Day that year at the Moree Show.
The original Deluxe Café and Milk Bar – a traditional Greek-style café in every sense of the term – operated in Balo Street, Moree from the mid-1940s until 1970.
The original café, located where the ladies wear section of Assef’s clothing store now stands, was owned and operated by Manuel and Gipsy Poulos, parents and parents-in-law of current owners of the mobile Deluxe Café, Bill and Cindy Poulos.
Bill and Cindy’s mobile café was purpose-built to serve coffees, snacks and cold treats at major weekend functions on a large scale however it was always the owners’ intent to trade from the van on a daily basis from one location.
This they established on October 9, 2008 at the corner of Warialda and Alice Streets on a disused service station site shared with locally-owned hire company, Boomi Party Hire.
On March 1, 2021, Deluxe Cafe Moree relocated to 347 Frome Street, right next door to the Harley Davidson dealership.
“It is the ideal site for a business like ours,” Bill says.
“We have ample on-site parking and easy access.”
The Deluxe Café operates from 5.45am until 1pm Monday to Friday and at different venues at weekends. Regular events are Saturday morning junior sports – soccer and cricket – at Ron Harborne Oval as well as the Moree Markets at Jellicoe Park on the first Sunday of each month.
Not long after opening, Bill and Cindy introduced a free delivery service within Moree town limits. They argued that if there were little cars and mopeds running around cities and towns delivering pizzas and the like, why couldn’t there be a little car running around Moree delivering delicious Toby’s Estate coffee?
The delivery service is somewhat unique in the mobile coffee industry. While there are mobile units zipping around large urban and industrial areas brewing coffee for queued office and factory workers, Deluxe Café Moree does the complete opposite.
The mobile unit parks in one spot and coffees and treats are delivered to the customers’ front door or workstations. The customer doesn’t even have to leave their desk. And it’s every employer’s dream – no down-time by staff out on a side-street or car-park waiting for coffee.
Deliveries can be just about anywhere, too. The Deluxe often delivers to mums and their kids enjoying a day out at one of Moree’s great parks and even drops off to B-doubles and road-trains in parking bays or weighbridge lanes when the busy harvesting seasons are in full swing.
Deliveries to clients at hairdressers and beauticians in Moree are quite common as well.
“We have even delivered to patients at Moree hospital – right to their bedside,” Cindy laughs.
The mobile Deluxe Café is now firmly entrenched in the Moree community and beyond as one of the area’s finest coffee outlets. It is renowned for great coffee and, most importantly, great service.
“Word of mouth is our greatest ally,” says Bill.
“Often we get people passing through town that pull up for a coffee because they have been told about us.
“One customer, in Moree working on a major construction site, said he was told about us while having smoko on the top of a high-rise construction site in downtown Sydney – he was told that if he was ever in Moree to get his coffee from us.”
Deluxe Café Moree uses quality products, including Toby’s Estate coffee beans, Alchemy Cordial coffee syrups, and locally-sourced treatsas well as Monster Cookies.

“Toby’s Estate is one of the finest coffees on the market and we are proud to be able to provide Moree with such a supreme blend,” Cindy said.
