Narrabri-Sydney commercial flights back in the air
NARRABRI shire residents can look skyward to Sydney once again with the news that regular return flights to the state capital will take to the airways in September.
Regional Airline Fly Corporate today announced that from Wednesday, September 13 direct flights between Narrabri and Sydney will commence.
Also on the same day a new direct service between Narrabri and Brisbane will take flight.
The schedule will offer direct weekday flights from Sydney and Brisbane to and from Narrabri.
Fly Corporate CEO Andrew Major said that Fly Corporate had been operating flights between Brisbane and Narrabri with a return service to Brisbane via Moree since August, 2016.
“As we have worked with the Narrabri Shire Council and the greater Namoi community to grow the Brisbane service, we have always been conscious of Narrabri’s need for a service to Sydney,” Mr Major said.
“Having recently been able to secure suitable slots at Sydney Airport, we are now able to achieve this goal. The close working relationship with council, local business and the wider community has given us confidence that a direct Sydney service is viable and will be well supported,” he said.
“Fly Corporate has worked hard to bring reliable and affordable air services to the towns and cities that we service in regional New South Wales and Queensland.
“This announcement is further evidence of our commitment to bring air services to these vibrant regional centres. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal customers for the support that they have shown”.
Narrabri Shire Council general manager Stewart Todd said the new Narrabri-Sydney schedule was welcomed news.
“It is with extreme excitement that council can now announce that Fly Corporate will commence Sydney to Narrabri flights,” Mr Todd said.
“This announcement comes after a sustained and unrelenting effort by council to secure flights to Sydney for Narrabri Shire and regional residents.
“A number of key staff and myself have been very active in regards to securing Sydney to Narrabri flights. An enormous amount of work has been undertaken over the last 12 months or more, and it is fantastic we can make this announcement today,” he said.
“Fly Corporate operates the current Brisbane to Narrabri flight and a Sydney flight adds to its local offerings. It’s been fantastic to work with such a professional aviation company as Fly Corporate.
“Any activity such as this is built on trust and I think we have both respected that.
“Fly Corporate has provided a great quality service to Brisbane and I think the Narrabri Shire and regional residents have shown their confidence in that service, which Fly Corporate has now seen and which has resulted in the expansion and announcement of the new service to Sydney.
“Council thanks Fly Corporate in showing the confidence in the route and encourages all members of the community to support the new additional service to Sydney,” Mr Todd said.
Tickets are on sale from July 5 at www.flycorporate.com.au or travel agents with $149 one-way all-inclusive Web Deal fares available.
Fly Corporate currently operates services from Brisbane to Armidale, Biloela (Thangool), Coffs Harbour, Moree, Narrabri, Orange and Tamworth.
This announcement comes on the back of the announcement that as of Wednesday, September 13 Fly Corporate will commence flights from Brisbane to Inverell with a return service to Brisbane via Moree.
