Moree on a Plate November 1 AGM calling on new committee members
IT is one of the most successful events on the Moree calendar, attracting thousands of visitors and showcasing thriving boutique produce industries from across the region.
But if not for a dedicated team of volunteers, Moree on a Plate would simply no longer exist.
The fun and dynamic Moree on a Plate committee encourages locals to come along to its Annual General Meeting at 6.30pm in The Royal Hotel dining room on Thursday, November 1.
New committee members are always welcome, and president Bethany Kelly says it is a great way to meet new people and make a meaningful contribution to the community.
“Moree on a Plate’s success is the envy of many regional centres and the key to our prosperity is thanks to our hard-working committee,” Mrs Kelly said.
“Organising a festival of this calibre takes a lot of planning and execution, but after 14 years the committee now has it down to a fine art,” she laughed.
Positions up for grabs at next year’s festival include Kids’ Korner co-ordinators, financial co-ordinators and general committee members.
Mrs Kelly also encourages local businesses to support the festival in the way of a committee volunteer.
“In the past I know many businesses have supported staff becoming more community-minded; helping new employees meet new people and becoming involved in Moree life,” she said.
The Moree on a Plate committee is made up of all ages and backgrounds, men and women, and while Mrs Kelly admitted organising an event of this calibre took commitment, there are plenty of laughs along the way.
