Moree man Trevor Duroux dies in hospital after coward punch at Coolangatta

MOREE man Trevor Duroux has died in hospital after allegedly being assaulted on a roadway outside a Coolangatta hotel earlier this month.

Trevor Doroux has passed away in a Gold Coast hospital.

Around 2.25am on December 4, two men, unknown to each other, left a licensed premises located at the intersection of Warner Street and Marine Parade.

It will be alleged one of the men became involved in an altercation with a group of people, before moving away and striking Mr Diroux in the head, causing him to fall onto the roadway.

Mr Duroux was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition. He was pronounced deceased yesterday afternoon.

An 18-year-old New Zealand national is expected to have an original charge of grievous bodily harm upgraded to unlawful striking causing death when he next appears in Southport Magistrates Court on December 17.
