It just wouldn’t be MOAP without Deluxe Cafe Moree there!

THE Moree on a Plate food and wine festival has long been regarded as a regional showcase for quality products from across the vast north-west and beyond.

That’s why mobile espresso bar Deluxe Café Moree will again be there serving premium blend Toby’s Estate coffee for the eighth year running, a tradition that has become a staple at the annual festival.

Deluxe Café Moree, established eight years ago by Bill and Cindy Poulos, is part of a network of more than 600 independent cafes exclusively serving Toby’s Estate coffee.

Cindy Poulos says having a quality brand is a must, and this is reflected by the huge following Deluxe Café Moree has in Moree by customers who simply ‘know their coffee’.

Cindy Poulos and Tiana Shervey share the “big cup” at the Moree Show.

“Moree on a Plate is all about delivering quality products, and having Toby’s Estate coffee on-site complements everything the festival stands for,” Cindy said.

“Toby’s Estate is a premium brand – a quality coffee – and one befitting a festival like Moree on a Plate.”

Deluxe Café Moree first began trading on weekends only back in April, 2008 and later that year started operating Monday to Friday on the corner of Alice and Warialda Streets in East Moree.

The outlet also offers a free in-town delivery service, an original concept for Moree.

Since those early days, the mobile café has established itself as a must drop-in venue for coffee connoisseurs from across the region and further afield.

“Often, we have travellers call in on their way through Moree who simply cannot believe that they can get a cup of Toby’s Estate coffee so far ‘out in the bush’,” Cindy laughs.

“And many of those travellers drop back in on their return trips or whenever they are on the road again.

“We have many out-of-town ‘regulars’ who we see every six months or so, when they are on holidays or travelling for work reasons, and we are always meeting new customers who have been told about us thanks to the ever-reliable grapevine,” she said.

Deluxe Cafe Moree was the first outlet in Moree to offer a free in-town delivery service.

Deluxe Café Moree’s Cold Comforts ice-cream van will also be at Moree on a Plate, serving scoop ice-cream from the exceptional Norgen-Vaaz range.

The van was added to Deluxe Café Moree three years ago, and is a regular sight around the streets of Moree and surrounding villages within the Moree Plains Shire.

Cold Comforts offers nine flavours including Chocolate Obsession, Passionfruit, kids’ favourite Rainbow, Peppermint Choc-Chip, Rum & Raisin, Cookie & Cream, Boysenberry, traditional Vanilla and the recently-added Rock Salt Caramel.

“The new caramel flavour is becoming very popular – it is amazing,” Cindy said.

The 2016 Moree on a Plate festival, held on the grounds of Moree Secondary College’s Albert Street campus, will this year host more than 50 exhibitors including local traders Gwydir Grove, South Moree Butchery, A Tasty Surprise, Tandoori Bites, Thub Thim Thai, Sleep Sanctuary, Woolaway Wines, Pally Pecans, Any Occasion Catering and Moree Thai Cuisine.

Festival gates open at 10am on Frome Street and at this stage Moree can expect a perfect, sunny autumn afternoon with a forecasted temperature of around 28 degrees.

The Toby’s Estate story

(Source: www.tobysestate.com.au)

Over 15 years ago Toby Smith traded in a lucrative career as a lawyer to follow his heart and venture to some of the world’s most remote regions to discover all there was to know about his first love –coffee.

While living within the communities, Toby experienced first-hand how these families had dedicated their lives, and a lot of hard manual labour to growing exquisite coffee.

Toby realised the world of specialty coffee could be lost to mass produced alternatives if someone didn’t get the coffee from these farmers into the hands of coffee lovers.

He spent the next 12 years sharing what he had learnt with a team of passionate coffee enthusiasts, opened several signatures cafes, and built a loyal network of over 600 independent cafes who serve Toby’s Estate coffee exclusively.

In 2009, Toby set out to explore more of the world’s coffee growing regions and uncovered a colourful world of people, places, cultures and stories which would go on to fill the pages of his book “Coffee Trails”.

Toby is joined today by a passionate team of coffee enthusiasts at Toby’s Estate, who are united under the common goal to honour the work of the specialty coffee farmers and produce the best quality coffee from crop to cup.
