Five people charged in Coonamble ICE bust
FIVE people have now been charged following investigations into the alleged ongoing supply of prohibited drugs in Coonamble.
Strike Force Delaney was established by officers from Castlereagh Local Area Command in February 2017 to investigate the alleged supply of methylamphetamine ‘ICE’ in Coonamble.
Following extensive inquiries, a search warrant was executed at a home on Nash Street in Coonamble on Sunday 10 September. A large amount of cash and methylamphetamine was seized.
As a result of subsequent inquiries, a 57-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday (21 November 2017) and taken to Coonamble Police Station.
She was charged with a total of 11 offences, including supplying a commercial quantity of prohibited drugs.
The woman appeared at Walgett Local Court where she was bail refused to reappear on 13 February 2018.
A 64-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were also arrested and taken to Walgett Police Station.
Both were charged with participating in a criminal group and dealing with the proceeds of crime and given conditional bail to appear at Coonamble Local Court on 18 December 2017.
Two men – aged 28 and 32 – were previously arrested and charged with multiple counts of supply prohibited drugs and remain before the courts.
Meanwhile, also at Coonamble, a woman will face court next month after she was charged with a number of dishonesty offences.
In September 2017, detectives attached to Castlereagh Local Area Command commenced an investigation into alleged mail theft with assistance from Australia Post Security Group.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 46-year-old woman on Aberford Road, Coonamble, just before 10.30am on Wednesday.
She was taken to Coonamble Police Station where she was charged with steal property as clerk/servant, possess identity info to commit etc indictable offence, appropriate mail-receptacle and two counts of dishonestly take/conceal mail-receptacle.
She was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Coonamble Local Court on Tuesday 19 December 2017.
