Dubbo: Police appeal for witnesses after aggravated break and enter

Police have appealed to the public for information after an aggravated break and enter occurred at a home in Dubbo.

About 1.15am on Thursday 28 January 2016, four males forced entry to a home in Tamworth Street through the back door.

Two offenders went to the main bedroom and assaulted the 53-year-old male resident of the home with an unknown object.

His 47-year-old wife was assaulted with a baseball bat.

Emergency services were contacted and the injured man was treated for lacerations and bruising to his legs. He was conveyed to hospital for further treatment.

Police from Orana Local Area Command commenced a search for the offenders. A dog squad officer also attended and a scent was tracked along Dalton Street however the males could not be located.

The officers also conducted a canvass of the neighbourhood.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw suspicious or unusual activity in Tamworth or Dalton Streets overnight to come forward.

The four men are described only as being of Middle Eastern appearance, with one being very tall and another having a long black beard.
