MOREE locals have seized the opportunity to forget about the drought for an afternoon and will kick up their heels at the annual Moree on a Plate Long Lunch on Saturday.
It’s all about savouring a delicious local menu and relaxing with friends, and with live entertainment setting the atmosphere, Moree on a Plate president Bethany Kelly says the Long Lunch is an opportunity for Moree to relax and have fun.
“The season has not been kind, but this event is,” Bethany said.
“There are no raffles, no merchandise sales and no auctions – basically no reason to put your hand in your pockets for hidden extras.”

Moree on a Plate committee member Penny Holliday with major sponsor, The Manildra Group’s Brooke Humphries. Both are excited for this weekend’s Long Lunch on the grounds of B&W Rural.
And all this is thanks to the generosity of The Manildra Group, which has kindly sponsored the event.
The Manildra Group’s marketing manager Emma Williams said the company is thrilled to help facilitate one of the region’s premier events, and help take pressure off the community.
“The Manildra Group is a 100 percent Australian family-owned agribusiness and it’s been proudly partnering with local farmers since 1952,” Ms Williams said.
“We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to support communities such as Moree, particularly during these challenging seasons.”
Treen White of Relish Catering has developed a mouth-watering local menu, with a focus on Gwydir Grove Olive Oils in celebration of the retirement of this iconic local business after 25 years.
Guests will also be wowed by highly acclaimed band, Three Legged Pig Dogs, with the long lunch crowd always partial to a bit of a boogie later in the afternoon.
“It’s always so much fun to see guests letting their hair down and enjoying themselves; it really is one of the happiest days of the year and we’re so excited for this year’s event,” Bethany said.
Beth reminds guests there were to be no cars to left on the grounds or perimeter overnight.
There will be bus transport back in to town in the early evening.
